CAPTAINS REPORT

Thanks to the 18 Members who turned out to play the new course at Essendon. Well done to Julien who actual turned up this time. I’m not sure he’d have joined us though if he knew he was playing with Captain Angry (Damo) and his apprentice (Goodgey).

The course was in good order, but due to the challenging weather in the lead up to this years event the greens had a fair bit of sand treatment still showing. There were a few holes where this was more prevalent than others and on those Mr Roberts (ex Car Sales Exec) entrepreneurial flair had him charging for Donkey rides across the green. All was going really well with Roy’s new venture until the Donkey ran off when he saw Dave Goodge nearing the front of the queue.

Onto the event, we played for the Kimpton Spoon (Singles Stableford) which was kindly sponsored by Dud Gin and the Trios Trophy (3 ball Stableford) which was sponsored by John Tarbox (thanks John).

Story of the day was simply, Todge won everything!!!!!! He picked up the singles trophy with a fantastic 37 points and tabled the top score of 99 in the trios accompanied by Pete Ibbetson and Dan Gibson. Oh, and to add to his collection of the semi drinkable wine prizes, he also picked up nearest the pin on the 3rd and 13th. A legendary performance!!!!!!

Trios – Digger / Neil Turley / Chris Wilkes (2nd Place – 95pts)

Nearest the pin – Pete Ibbetson (8th) / Neil Matthews (11th)

Finally we had near perfect behaviour out of the bad boy of the Kimpton Golf Society (Damo).

I’m not sure it was the issuance of the elasticated golf grip he was awarded before the round that stopped him throwing his clubs or the fact he scored 35 pts. (I suspect the latter).
