July 2025 - John O'Gaunt

CAPTAINS REPORT

Golfs Longest Day for KGS is the ‘July 36’, this year played on the two courses at a sunny John O’Gaunt. Thankfully we missed the really hot weather that followed.

In spite of the dry conditions the courses played well and the hospitality was excellent.

The Captains team and ‘volunteers’ ensured a smoothly run day, the playing order and scoring certainly take some working out.

Thanks to Ian Mitchell and Dave Goodge for sponsoring the prizes.

The winners are shown below -

It was our 21st visit and we have now played 889 rounds of golf at JOG.

I’m not sure if it was the tougher course or the heat but the average score am to pm was 31.32 to 26.19.

It was great to see ‘Digger’ Dollin back playing golf, 41 points in the morning.

Apologies to Mike Fisher who I managed to age by over 10 years for one of the competitions, picked the wrong ‘F’!

Jim Rowe had travelled back early from being away to be at JOG so it was nice that he won the Fourball voucher kindly donated by the club to celebrate our 50th anniversary.

Update on competitions running through the year:

Champion Golfer: Julien Meyer 38 points, Dave Goodge 35 points, Damian McPhun 33 points.

Eclectic: Pete Ibbetson, Ashley Jones & Dave Goodge 55 points, Julien Meyer 54 points.

Off to administer 'La Coupe' , see you at Whitehill.

Stay safe

Cheers

Neil
